SNF Equipment Grants

The Application Process:

The School Nutrition Foundation is teaming up with the industry partners listed below to provide new kitchen equipment to deserving districts! Apply now for the 2022 SNF Equipment Grant Program, featuring applications for not one but FIVE grants!

Thank you to our generous donors: Winston Foodservice, Vulcan and Hobart (Divisions of ITW/FEG), Food Warming Equipment (FWE), Cambro Manufacturing, Innoseal Systems, Sterling Manufacturing, Sterno Delivery, and TekVisions!

The 2022 Equipment Grants Application(s) will open on October 1, 2021. Eligible applicants have the opportunity to win equipment grants, each worth between $20,000 to $100,000 of equipment. Applications and photos must be submitted by a school nutrition director. The recipients will be notified in late-March. This year, only finalists will be asked to submit a 2-3-minute video.

Eligibility:

  • The applicant must be an active director-level member for a minimum of one year from January 1, 2021 with the School Nutrition Association (SNA) and have a history of employment in school foodservice. If you need to confirm SNA membership, please call 1-800-877-8822.
  • There are NO eligibility requirements for a certain percentage of free/reduced eligible students.
  • The applicant must be responsible for directing the school nutrition program of the school district.
  • The applicant must represent the entire school district’s equipment needs.

Applications will be reviewed for need, plan to integrate new equipment and impact of new equipment on the school nutrition program.

The following equipment grant scholarships are available. Individuals will not be awarded more than one scholarship:

The Winston Equipment Grant:

SNF and Winston have teamed up for more than a decade to help school nutrition professionals address equipment needs in order to better serve students. The Winston Foodservice Equipment Grant program will award equipment to one (1) school district in need of improving its school meal kitchen facilities through a competitive grant process. Equipment received from the Winston Foodservice award will consist of up to 10 pieces of equipment valued up to $100,000 from Winston Foodservice. Once awarded, the recipient will work with a Winston Foodservice representative to determine what best suits their school district’s needs.

The Vulcan Equipment Grant:

Vulcan and Hobart (divisions of ITW/FEG) have teamed up to help SNF provide more equipment to SNA members. The recipient of the Vulcan Equipment Grant will be awarded up to $35,000 worth of Vulcan equipment. Once awarded, the recipient will work with an ITW/FEG representative to determine what best suits their school district’s needs.

The Hobart Equipment Grant:

Vulcan and Hobart (divisions of ITW/FEG) have teamed up to help SNF provide more equipment to SNA members. The recipient of the Hobart Equipment Grant will be awarded up to $20,000 worth of Hobart equipment. Once awarded, the recipient will work with an ITW/FEG representative to determine what best suits their school district’s needs.

The 2022 Hobart Equipment Grant Application opens October 1, 2021. Follow this link to apply for the 2022 Hobart Equipment Grant. The deadline for the SNF Common application is January 31, 2022, at 11:59 pm EST. We will announce the recipients in May of 2022.

 

The Food Warming Equipment (FWE) Equipment Grant:

The FWE Equipment Grant awards the winning school district with multiple pieces of equipment. The equipment includes an extensive line of mobile, stainless steel, and full insulated hearted holding cabinets, proofers, refrigerators, freezers, portable bars, and serving wells. The FWE family of divisions expand automation, robotics, and cutting-edge technology continuing FWE’s commitment and confidence in the resilient school foodservice industry. The winning school district will show that there is a plan for the placement of all pieces of equipment in the school district. The recipient of the Food Warming Equipment (FWE) Equipment Grant will be awarded up to $25,000 worth of FWE equipment.

The Collection Equipment Grant:

These companies see and feel the need to improve kitchens throughout the United States. They have agreed to work together to improve the lives of both the students being served and school nutrition professionals.

The 2022 Collection Equipment Grant Application opens October 1, 2021. Follow this link to apply for the 2022 Collection Equipment Grant. The deadline for the SNF Common application is January 31, 2022, at 11:59 pm EST. We will announce the recipients in May of 2022.

 

VIDEO APPLICATION PROCESS

If you are selected as a finalist, you will be asked to create a 2-3-minute video. School Nutrition Foundation staff will send you directions for the video application process if you are chosen to move on to the next round of judging.
