SNF Equipment Grants

The Application Process:
The 2021 Equipment Grants Application(s) opens on October 1, 2020. Eligible applicants have the opportunity to win one of four grants, each worth between $20,000 to $65,000 of equipment. These grants are the Winston Equipment Grant, the Vulcan Equipment Grant, the Hobart Equipment Grant and the Collection Grant (comprised of donations made by multiple equipment companies). Applications and photos must be submitted by a school nutrition director. The recipients will be notified in late-March. This year, only finalists will be asked to submit a 2-3-minute video.
Eligibility:
- The applicant must be an active director-level member for a minimum of one year from January 1, 2020 with the School Nutrition Association (SNA) and have a history of employment in school foodservice. If you need to confirm SNA membership, please call 1-800-877-8822.
- There are NO eligibility requirements for a certain percentage of free/reduced eligible students.
- The applicant must be responsible for directing the school nutrition program of the school district.
- The applicant must represent the entire school district’s equipment needs.
Applications will be reviewed for need, plan to integrate new equipment and impact of new equipment on the school nutrition program.

The Winston Equipment Grant:
SNF and Winston have teamed up for more than a decade to help school nutrition professionals address equipment needs in order to better serve students. The Winston Foodservice Equipment Grant program will award equipment to one (1) school district in need of improving its school meal kitchen facilities through a competitive grant process. Equipment received from the Winston Foodservice award will consist of 10 pieces of equipment from Winston Foodservice. Once awarded, the recipient will work with a Winston Foodservice representative to determine what best suits their school district’s needs.
Winston Equipment could include CVap® holding cabinets, holding drawers, retherm ovens

The Vulcan Equipment Grant:
Vulcan and Hobart (divisions of ITW/FEG) have teamed up to help SNF provide more equipment to SNA members. The recipient of the Vulcan Equipment Grant will be awarded up to $35,000 worth of Vulcan equipment. Once awarded, the recipient will work with an ITW/FEG representative to determine what best suits their school district’s needs.

The Hobart Equipment Grant:

The Collection Equipment Grant:
These companies see and feel the need to improve kitchens throughout the United States. They have agreed to work together to improve the lives of both the students being served and school nutrition professionals. The Collection Grant is comprised of the following generous donors: Cambro Manufacturing, CMA Dishmachines, Innoseal Systems, Lakeside Manufacturing, Sterno Delivery, TekVisions and Unox.
- Cambro Manufacturing equipment could include a Flex Station with Merchandiser Camdollies and EPP Insulated Carriers
- CMA Dish Machines Equipment could include a CMA-180-VL High Temperature Three Door Single Rack Dishwasher
- Innoseal Systems Equipment could include the Innoseal Professional Sealer
- Lakeside Manufacturing Equipment could include utility carts with various ranges in size, weight capacity, number of shelves, etc.etc. Available models: 210SP, 511C, 510, 521C, standard 521C, and 744C.
- Sterno Delivery Equipment could include Premium Bags or Insulated Tote Bags with various options available.
- TekVisions Equipment could include face masks and touchless thermometers
- Unox Equipment could include one Chef Top Mind Map Combi Oven

VIDEO APPLICATION PROCESS
If you are selected as a finalist, you will be asked to create a 2-3-minute video. School Nutrition Foundation staff will send you directions for the video application process if you are chosen to move on to the next round of judging.
