This program is so great for our kids. As a parent, I love knowing every child has the chance to eat breakfast every morning at school.”
- Michelle S., Livingston Parish Public Schools LPPS School Food Services
All children deserve access to healthy school meals. We provide programs and resources to educate and empower SNA members and address food insecurity and childhood hunger.
MAKING AN IMPACT
Support Our Programs
SNF provides scholarships for SNA members to pursue their education dreams and to attend SNA conferences;
• In 2017, we awarded more than $100,000 in education scholarships
• 33 SNA members received scholarships to attend SNA conferences (LAC and ANC)
BREAKFAST IN THE CLASSROOM (BIC)
Our Partnership for Breakfast in the Classroom (in collaboration with FRAC and NEA Foundation) provides grants for schools to implement various models of Breakfast in the Classroom. We are currently in our seventh year of the project funded by the Walmart Foundation and have provided more than $6.6 million in grants to more than 100 schools. To date, 65,000+ more students are eating school breakfast as a result of our grant funding.
SCHOOLS AS NUTRITION HUBS
Hungry children are not prepared to learn. Providing nutritious school meals to every child is part of our mission. Through our partnership with Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry, we have developed tools and training to assist school nutrition directors in expanding meal programs. Tools include templates for financial modeling and implementation plans, in addition to in-person education sessions.
We are inspiring school nutrition professionals by sharing innovative practices that increase participation and build community support for school meals. Through this program, we identify school nutrition innovators and share their stories through social channels and through
conference education sessions.
CELEBRATION OF SCHOOL NUTRITION HEROES
School nutrition professionals are dedicated and generous individuals who care deeply about children and the families in their communities. We honorthe spirit of service by celebrating individuals who have gone above and beyond to make a difference in their communities. These individuals not only work every day to serve healthy meals to children, they also devote their free time to helping those in need. Like so many in our profession, they see a way to help, and make it happen!
SNF makes an impact and has a broad reach in providing scholarships to school nutrition professionals, accepting donations to the annual fund, and providing grants as part of the Partners for Breakfast in the Classroom. See the map below for the state by state breakdown.
